FlexAnswer is a powerful solution for web based question answering. It is based on next generation natural language processing techniques. FlexAnswer provides a web based customer service tool that helps businesses cope with the increasing demand of providing e-service and e-support. FlexAnswer understands customer’s questions in plain English, allowing customers to visit a Web site, type a question and receive an immediate answer.

The Directors of VoxDev were originally involved in developing FlexAnswer (as part of 3F Ltd) and more recently have provided a SQL to Oracle conversion of the system.

Cobalt Telephone Technologies Ltd is a telephone response solutions house. Cobalt specialise in the development and delivery of voice and touch-tone driven services that streamline the business operations of organisations with customers in the UK and Northern Europe.

O2 Airwave is a secure digital radio network dedicated for the exclusive use of the UK’s emergency and public safety services. Designed to carry voice and data communications, the service offers guaranteed levels of coverage across England, Wales and Scotland.

UK Police are one of the primary users of Airwave and the service is being provided to all police forces throughout England, Scotland and Wales as part of a 2.9bn UK Government contract. With around 50,000 users so far, Airwave will be fully rolled out during 2005.

Cobalt is actively involved in the development and trialling of new voice technologies in support of Airwave using VoxDev software. West Midlands police have successfully trialled and deployed an automatic system for recognising vehicle registration numbers. See the Press Release.

VoxDev were also involved in the speech recognition aspects of the Cobalt RingGo car park automated payment system. This also used voice recognition of car number plates.

VoxDev provided the development and ongoing updates and maintenance of a full website with a SQL Server database back end to hold the property and owner information, including a feature-rich property search engine, integration with 3rd party property databases and an advert purchasing system (integrated with WorldPay).

Local Property Index

The Local Property Index property search website was designed and implemented from scratch to be a global property portal. Comprising of over 6 million property listings from around the world, LPI has a very large volume of visitors every day. Major technology achievements were in the property listing web crawler and the database engine for rapidly searching such a large database.

For Pearsons Government Solutions, development of a web based interface and applications to BT’s Wholesale line rental (WLR) provisioning system and development of the backend management systems.

Speech Solutions

Speech Solutions’ goal is to help organisations in the UK optimise the way in which they communicate with customers, suppliers and employees through the use of proven speech technology. Speech Solutions provides a valuable service in helping organisations define where and where not to utilise speech technology to support both telephone and document processes. The benefits that can be achieved in the organisation through the deployment of speech technology are identified.

VoxDev provided a fully hosted solution based on the Envox IVR system to answer calls as an automated receptionist, and also provide crisis communication facilities (hot-desking, broadcast messages, emergency call distribution for inbound calls).

Stealthnet are one of the most successful premium rate service providers in the UK. VoxDev host several hundred IVR services that Stealthnet provide to their clients.

University of Sunderland

For Sunderland University, a collaboration lasting several years, the main project was to rewrite the existing and outdated ColdFusion system using .Net. This included development of the Project Administration and Workflow System (PAWS) and a funding proposal management system using full economic costing (FECAF). The backend database system used in this project was Oracle.
